VERSIONS AND CONCESSIONS > SQUARE PERISTYLE
Because the building material of South Stoa II (crepidoma and stylobate, columns, epistyle, rear wall’s façade, part of the foundations in the interior) originates from the Square Peristyle, which was constructed in 300 BC and demolished in the mid-2nd cent. BC, we have represented this building, though it does not belong to any of the phases of the project (Classical, Hellenistic and Roman). We have followed the representation of the excavators faithfully, especially the published drawing [e.g. Lang, M., The Athenian Citizen. Democracy in the Athenian Agora, revised edition by Mc Camp, J. II (Princeton 2004), pl. 23].
